On February 22, on the feast of the Chair of Saint Peter the Apostle, we remember the Servant of God Archbishop Eduard Profittlich, who died 82 years ago in Kirov prison. Today we remember the Archbishop and his work for the Catholic Church in a prayer of thanksgiving.
Archbishop Eduard Profittlich S.J. was born on September 11, 1890, in Birresdorf, Germany. He was a German Catholic cleric, a Jesuit, apostolic administrator of the Catholic Church in Estonia since 1931, and bishop since 1936. He died in Kirov prison on February 22, 1942.
Intercessory Prayers.
We also ask for prayers through the intercession of the Servant of God. According to Church teaching, a prayer directed to the Servant of God with an open heart and mind is always one that God will surely hear. A person who prays, fully trusting the Lord, Jesus Christ, with piety and a patient mind, asking for the intercession of the Servant of God, receives special grace from God, for God communicates with His servant. It is important that such a prayer has a clear intention and that one is persistent in their prayer life.
The grace received from intercessory prayers heard by God is a grace for the entire Church. Therefore, every person praying could inform their bishop in writing about such a received grace (it can also be anonymous). As the shepherd of his flock, the bishop can thus also thank God for this grace. The Servant of God always awaits our prayers, ready to mediate them face to face with God.
Regarding all prayers heard and graces received through the Servant of God Eduard Profittlich, please write to: admapost@katoliku.ee
Regarding Beatification.
During the beatification process of the Servant of God Eduard Profittlich in Rome, the Apostolic Administration of Estonia must cover significant costs associated with it. In March, an important commission will take place where theologians will meet to discuss the theological aspects of the Archbishop’s beatification. This will be followed in the future by a college of cardinals, who will convene to discuss the life and martyrdom of the Servant of God.
When the Pope signs the decree of beatification, we can together begin preparing for the Holy Mass in Tallinn, where the solemn beatification will take place. The organization of the Holy Mass will incur additional separate expenses.
We ask all who wish to financially support the preparation for the beatification of Eduard Profittlich to make donations to the bank account listed below (with the explanation ‘Beatification of Eduard Profittlich’):
